At this time, there are no live televised Copa Colombia events but we show you a history with the TV guide of the last broadcast seen on television.
We will update this Copa Colombia agenda on TV when we receive confirmation from official media of the next live televised events of Copa Colombia.
Since the beginning of this website, 18 live televised events have been published.
The first event published was on Thursday, August 8, 2019 and the channel that broadcast Copa Colombia matches the most times was Fanatiz with a total of 15.
The Copa Colombia is the main knockout tournament in Colombian soccer . It was created in 1950, two years after the professional league was established, due to the growth of interest in the sport in Colombia. The first editions had very little prestige and importance, which even led to the matches having to be postponed several times due to priority to other competitions.
The event did not return until 1981 and included the ten clubs that did not qualify for the home run in the league championship. The incentive for the participants was to guarantee the champion a place in the octagonal finale of the following season. In 1989 the next edition was held and it was part of the structure of the Liga de Colombia, but the league that year was suspended for the murder of Álvaro Ortega. In 2008, the teams approved his return under the current format.
In the Copa Colombia the 36 teams from the first two categories of Colombian football participate. Their entry varies according to the qualifying position in which they finished in the last championship. The 16 qualifiers from the DIMAYOR BetPlay Tournament face each other in the first two heats. In the third round, the Colombian League clubs that do not compete in the Copa Libertadores or in the Copa Sudamericana enter the competition. Those who play in continental tournaments enter the round of 16. From that round, the duels are resolved to a single match instead of a round trip. The winner gets a place in the Copa Libertadores.
So far, nine teams have managed to be the champions of this contest. Atlético Nacional, Independiente de Medellín, Santa Fe, Millonarios and Junior have achieved it on more than one occasion. At the departmental level, the Antioquia and Bogotá clubs have more than five trophies in total.
The inaugural edition of the Colombia Cup 1950 used a tremendously peculiar format and very few times in the world of football. It was played by 16 teams and to be eliminated they had to lose two qualifying rounds. When being defeated for the first time, they fell to a phase of losers where they maintained the options of being able to win it. Boca Juniors de Cali lost in the winners final to Santa Fe. Both met again in the grand final. The Ciencia Boquense took their own revenge by winning a spectacular tie that ended with an aggregate score of 7-6.
